in paragraph 24 of the petition should be as follows:

(a) that officers who have signed option forms cannot be allowed to revoke or reconsider these options,

that officers can be given a choice only

between their old terms and the new and that no adjustment of emoluments can be granted to officers who elect to remain on their old terms

that the existing revised scales of basic

pay cannot be increased but that the cost of living allowances will be periodically revised in the light of conditions in the Colony and have in fact recently been substantially increased as a result of such revision,

that it is not considered desirable to

increase the present rates of expatriation pay,

that adequate consideration has already

been taken of previous police service in the United Kingdom in assessing the initial salaries of officers appointed from the United Kingdom Police Forces since 1945; that all Police service in the Colony prior to 1st January, 1947 is taken into consideration for the purpose of pay and will similarly be taken into account for pension if an officer is confirmed the pensionable establishment; that the pension rights of officers transferred from the Metropolitan Police have already been safeguarded; that officers who resigned from United Kingdom County or Borough Police Forces to join the Hong Kong Police in 1945/46 cannot be regarded as on secondment and their United Kingdom pension rights must remain forfeited.
